ROBO FEED FLEXI is an advanced solution designed to optimize CNC machine tool tending, combining automation, vertical storage, and operational flexibility.
ROBO FEED FLEXI integrates with all CNC machine tools. It is engineered for part handling throughout every stage of the machining process, autonomously managing tooling and workholding equipment without operator intervention, ensuring maximum flexibility.
The system is designed to optimize production performance and efficiently support internal logistics in a safe and fully traceable manner, adapting seamlessly to both small batch production and more structured, high-volume manufacturing environments.

MACHINE OPERATION

In ROBO FEED FLEXI, trays represent the load units for all components required in flexible manufacturing: parts, pallets, fixtures, gripper change units, tools, and accessories.
The machine’s vertical configuration enables high-density storage of load units, which are handled via a lift-and-transfer system.
Through two configurable bays (cart bay and operator bay), all necessary operations on individual trays can be carried out:

A third bay makes individual trays available to one or more robots, which handle the components required for production and interface directly with the CNC machine tools.

CENTRAL LIFT UNIT the core of the machine

Trays are automatically handled by a central elevator that optimizes storage space based on automatic tray height detection or according to the height parameters defined in the production recipe.
The three motion axes of the central elevator enable precise handling of load units within the system.

The lift-and-transfer system can perform multiple operations across all bays and within the storage area, prioritizing requests from the robot bay whenever production is active.

The ROBO FEED software ensures real-time traceability of all lift-and-transfer missions, providing full monitoring and operational transparency.

The choice of configuration and the number of bays depend on production requirements and the desired level of autonomy, ensuring maximum efficiency in every operational context.

Robot Bay

Trays are automatically exchanged in masked time, without using the robot.
Cycle time is optimized as the robot focuses exclusively on part handling and machine tending.
An optional package is available including: additional tray storage warehouse, exchange buffer to speed up robot servicing operations and dedicated compartment for accessories

Cart Insertion Bay

ROBO FEED FLEXI can be configured to manage carts and trays from different manufacturers, ensuring maximum integration with existing solutions. The available trays are 600x400 mm or 600x600 mm, depending on specific production requirements.

Operator Bay

Re-tooling cart

Useful for facilitating re-tooling operations and the manual insertion of a new tray, without the need to use the machine’s cart bay. Available as an accessory for the operator bay.

PRODUCTION SETUP IN JUST A FEW STEPS

Production configuration requires only a few simple steps, with no programming or complex settings.

The operator selects directly from the interface:

  • The part number to be produced and its initial status (raw, OP10, OP20…)

  • The final status of the part (OP10, OP20… finished part)

  • The CNC machine
  • The quantity to be produced

ROBO FEED FLEXI will automatically select the gripping system, fixtures, load units, the robot program, and the CNC machine tool.

FLEXI WAREHOUSE MANAGEMENT

All warehouse functions can be performed in masked time while FLEXI is processing other batches.

  • Insertion of entire carts with mixed trays, automatic recognition, and intelligent storage based on height within the warehouse.

  • Maximum operational efficiency: the ability to prepare carts for production in other robotic cells or for subsequent machining phases, without additional part handling, in line with lean manufacturing principles.

  • All operations on load units can be carried out from the operator bay.

DIGITAL TWIN INTEGRATED INTO THE SOFTWARE

Management of ROBO FEED FLEXI through a dynamic three-dimensional interface that adapts to the specific use case:

  • Navigable 3D synoptic view of ROBO FEED FLEXI, allowing the operator to explore the entire internal structure and monitor machine status.

  • Support for recipe creation, with graphical visualization of the part, either modeled or imported in 3D. Assistance for part positioning and nesting on the load unit.

  • Support in troubleshooting machine issues, providing detailed information on components that are currently in alarm or fault condition.
